for learners....

Do you make them pay up front?

If someone turns up for a first lesson with no money, do you go home? Charge them later? Or?

I make it clear that I need payment before the lesson starts. I have driven learners to an ATM so they can withdraw the cash. I make the excuse that they are not insured to drive the vehicle unless I have checked their eyesight, seen both parts of their licence and taken a payment for the lesson.

It depends on the pupil. I will get it off them next lesson or take them to a cash point.

I have no hard and fast rule about money up front as the majority block book and pay for the block up front.

I had one a couple of weeks ago. Phoned and booked a block of ten. I explained that payment has to be made in full on the first lesson...no probs says he.
End of first lesson (2 hours I might add) he says, without any shame at all 'I don't have any money, will need to pay you next time'!
As it turned out, he did pay next time......but who knows if its a new start. Next time, I'll ask at the very start of lesson.

Don't mind if I know the pupil and trust them. But deffo not a first lesson!

Welcome back Evon, have you been lucky enough to not get caught since you started. I know I got caught very early on but never since, always get the money 1st.
