Local associations
Tonight I went to the local association meeting, not been a member for long, only lived in this part of the world for a year. AGM, decided to volunteer as vice chairman, as the chairman will be stepping down. Hmm, well I think he is, got an inkling he was thinking dumb blonde, ha ha won't last. So time to prove I can step up to the mantle and chair the meetings - I hope!!
What is funny a couple of people showed a little resistance, but nobody wanted to put themselves forward as committee members. I quite like the idea of getting involved, it's just locally I'm a nobody because they haven't yet see my cv however hubby being a national figure, every tom dick n harry knows him
Still if they go with it we could have a really good group .. oh dear .. this could be sooooo interesting
Anyone else involved with their local association?

Around 20 of us attend on a regular basis, try to get talkers, we have had countless from the DSA, local council road dept (managed to get roads re white lined and some signs changed) Police. Recently Indi Driving has been a hot topic, got an extra meeting this week with our local QA Manager regarding the inroduction of it

Re: Local associations
I have been speaker at many local associations around the country, I have spoken on behalf of a National ADI association, on behalf of a road safety department, on behalf of a local association and more recently for the DIA.
I am always willing to speak at meetings as long as my costs are met or if it is on behalf of the DIA my travel may well be met by them.

Re: Local associations
There was one once in MK, the guy who ran it used have meetings in pubs where a small number of the attendees would get p!ssed and drive home. They'd literally fight at xmas parties and rarely have talks from the DIA etc.
It was on the way home from one of these meetings that the chairman was stopped by police and done for drink driving, loosing his ADI badge but continued to teach. He was caught out on TV.
One of the other members tried to resurrect it recently, there were 22 of us in the first meeting, 13 in the second and only 5 declared an interest in the next meeting. Therefore he gave up. There lies the MKDIA. Anyone who even mentions the prospect is looked at sideways as if they're talking about something illegal. A good 90% of the ADIs around here only look out for themselves and therefore aren't interested.
There is one in Bedfordshire (called BaBDIA I think) but I can't find a website or mention of it online.
